2012 Wolf Blass Platinum Label Barossa Valley Shiraz

The distinctive terroir of the Medlands Vineyard is uniquely expressed through this exceptionally focused shiraz, displaying its hallmark intensity and purity of fruit, a tight, elegant structure, definitive line and flawless balance.

Nose - Concentrated crushed blueberry, blackberry and Satsuma plum characters dominate the nose, complemented by underlying dark aromas of bittersweet chocolate, freshly ground coffee beans and evident, though well integrated fragrant, spicy oak

Palate - An elegant yet opulent palate replete with dark, berry fruits covering the spectrum from boysenberry through to blackberry and blueberry. Secondary characters of chocolate, chinotto and coffee beans add complexity, creating rich tiers of flavour. Fine French oak ties the wine together with focus and structure, and with supple, silky texture, definitive line, and fine persistent tannins, gives rise to a wine of great stature and presence.  

Great with chargrilled beef fillet with truffles and Shiraz jus or Cantonese roast goose.
